Sculpture and dance have been two passions in my life since I was a kid. The memories of that dance are stamped in my pieces. The themes of movement, space and communication are constantly present in my artwork. I like to explore the human figure, with its suggestions of communication, movement, and rhythm with space.
I enjoy working with a technique that I have developed over time and in which I use different materials including paper. It is a good vehicle I have found to express my themes.
Lila Turjanski-Villard was born in Argentina, where she studied clay sculpture in private studios for more than ten years. Once living in the US, she took classes in contemporary sculpture at the Westchester Art Workshop that motivated her exploration of new materials. In 2005, she started to experiment with mixed media sculptures to continue her creative journey.
Lila has a degree in Psychology from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She holds a Masters Degree in Management of Nonprofit Organizations from New York University.
Lila's sculptures have been exhibited since 2008 at art galleries and juried art shows.
