As Linder Sterling once said 'with collage, you make things wrong to make them right'.
(Sterling, 2014)
My work is inspired by my everyday experiences, observations and surrounding environments. I'm interested in places, objects, creatures, journeys, memories and stories, rural landscapes and urban spaces. My collages draw on innumerable sources of things I've seen, read, or heard; becoming abstract representations of my own experiences. They express a love of colour, a sense of humour, and play with the boundary between abstract and representational.
Process is paramount. By combining photographs and found imagery, I create new images based on personal experiences. Using a scalpel I remove elements that I consider insignificant and irrelevant; before layering the images to create environments that correspond with my everyday observations. I'm originally from Switzerland, but have been living in England since July 2001.
