RECOGNITION
I hold an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design and a BA in Fine Art from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design. My work is represented in collections across the UK and internationally, and I have exhibited extensively, including group shows at Sotheby’s London, Christie’s London, Tate Modern, Whitechapel Gallery, the Freud Museum, and Garboushian Gallery. I’ve been shortlisted for several awards, including the Celeste Art Prize (2007), the Barbican Surreal Competition (2010), and the FRINGEMK Painting Prize (2010).
—-
Residues of the past surface in this new ceramic work - cracks visible, revealing what memory cannot let go. The push and pull of clay mirroring an interior world warped by ideas of race, normality, gender, and the dark shadows of violence.
At times the self ruptures; at others it is barely held together. The mends do not hide the cracks but draw attention to them, marking each fracture as a badge of survival. In the kiln, heat brings forward what was already there: memories embedded in the clay. What remains is both vulnerable and powerful, fragmented yet alive.
