Christine Harfleet

born 6/8/43 in Hexham Northumberland. I live in my studios and work all the time. I used to travel the world a lot drawing and photographing but now I work mainly from my studios .I was trained at Goldsmiths school of art, studying sculpture and painting. I have worked in metal, wood and glass but now I work mostly in painting. My inspirations come from the sea and rocks and a love of the natural world

I studied initially at warwickshire school of art 2years, where, with 3 other students we set up a gallery in the town and displayed our sculpture. We also did a huge outdoor sculpture exhibition in Jephson Gardens of life size and larger figures and welded metal sculptures. It caused quite a stir in the town.and a television programme was made about it. I had 5 years at Goldsmiths school of art studying life drawing, painting and sculpture, which was heaven on earth. I was awarded a post graduate diploma and a free year's studio space for being most promising student of the year, which was renewed the following year. The best prize ever.,
