Anna-Lise Horsley

Anna-Lise moved back to England in 1995, having spent the previous ten years living and working in Budapest.She was an active participant in the Hungarian artistic community during the exciting and turbulent years between the changeover from communism to capitalism.She now divides her time between Cromer, Norfolk and Francoiseau, France.As well as my own visual language I use an extensive combination of source material. For example: The "Mauvaise Herbes" series uses shadows cast by seaweed, tamarind pods and diagrams of experiments with liquids and gasses.The "Floral Mechanisms" series stems from my drawings of orchids and ferns, and illustrations in old Botany books.Motifs and sources include my own photographs of shadows, light refracting through glass and water, cobwebs, smoke and insects.
