Liz Alzona is an award-winning, published mixed media artist and visual storyteller whose work bridges art, science, and human narrative. Inspired by extraordinary individuals and their stories of perseverance and discovery, she creates bold, vibrant mixed media collages alongside striking black-and-white analog works.

Her artwork explores universal themes including time, memory, connection, and resilience, inviting viewers to find shared meaning through layered visual storytelling.

Raised in Chicago by artist parents, Alzona developed an early passion for creative expression. She later studied art while earning a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Neurophysiology from Loyola University Chicago, forming the foundation of her distinctive art-science practice. Now based in the Atlanta area, her work appears in both private and institutional collections, including the James Clerk Maxwell Foundation in Edinburgh, Scotland, the Université de Technologie de Troyes in France, the education department of the Yale Peabody Museum, and the permanent historical collection of the Emma Darnell Aviation Museum.

Alzona’s work has been published in Kolaj Magazine (2025), and she is the recipient of the Rosemary Cox Award for Art from Georgia State ...

Liz Alzona’s creative journey is shaped by a unique blend of science and art. While earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Science in Neurophysiology at Loyola University Chicago, she also immersed herself in art classes, exploring the intersection of creativity and scientific inquiry. This fusion of disciplines fuels her fascination with perception, memory, and time—concepts that now play a central role in her artwork.

Always eager to expand her artistic practice, Liz has explored mono printing, mixed media watercolor, and the Art2Life Creative Visionary Program. In 2024, she deepened her connection to analog collage through an immersive workshop at The Hambidge Center, further refining her approach to layered storytelling and mixed media expression.
