Liz Alzona is an award-winning, published mixed media artist with a background in neuroscience who transforms the stories of the people behind world-changing scientific discoveries into compelling visual narratives. With over ten years of teaching experience, she creates artwork that bridges art, science, and human narrative.

She is a visual storyteller whose work bridges art, science, and human narrative. Inspired by extraordinary individuals and their stories of perseverance and discovery, she creates bold, vibrant mixed media collages alongside striking black-and-white analog works.

Her artwork explores universal themes including time, memory, connection, and resilience, inviting viewers to find shared meaning through layered visual storytelling.

Raised in Chicago by artist parents, Alzona developed an early passion for creative expression. She later studied art while earning a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Neurophysiology from Loyola University Chicago, forming the foundation of her distinctive art-science practice.

Liz Alzona's artistic practice is rooted in the intersection of science and art. While earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Science in Neurophysiology from Loyola University Chicago, she also pursued formal art studies, laying the foundation for a creative practice that merges scientific curiosity with visual storytelling.

Her background in neuroscience continues to shape her exploration of perception, memory, time, and human connection, themes that are central to her mixed media work.
Committed to continual growth as an artist, Alzona has expanded her practice through studies in monoprinting, mixed media watercolor, and the Art2Life Creative Visionary Program. In 2024, she further refined her analog collage practice during an immersive workshop at The Hambidge Center, deepening her exploration of layered storytelling, texture, and mixed media expression.
