Lola Menta

The name my parents gave me when I was born in 1978 is Ester, but I sign my artwork with the name Lola Menta, and here I'll tell you how Lola Menta came to be and what her name means. Everything began on the summer vacation in 2009 when I decided to walk a good part of the Camino de Santiago, with the intention of being alone with myself and to charge of my life. It didn't take me long for me to find myself and realize that I was a complete stranger with whom i was not very satisfied. every day while walking I was acknowledging, accepting my mistakes and with a sweet wink i said goodbye. That new me was Lola, although i didn't know it at the time. On my return, I felt the need to confess and i did it on a canvas with some old dried-up oil paints. I paint ed an ode to forgiveness dedicated to my sister; with that painting, I confessed that I had been the one who tattooed, shaved and hid her dolls. There was so much left to express that I had to buy more canvases and more paints. The painting became a therapy that fascinated me, that devoured my available hours and inspired those ours that I couldn't dedicate to it. After the regulated studies, I believed that I could control my dreams and I continued studying Baccalaureate (BUP), but my head wanders between characters and my pencils were still colored. So I changed schools and went to Barcelona to study art, but soon it was time to choose a specialization and I was not able, I kept wanting to discover the world, the straight and perfect lines of the planes, the wavy and vectorized lines of graphic art, and the ones imperfect of the painting. The volumes of the sculpture, the shine of the jewels, the architecture behind the wrinkles of a dress, and all the history that art surrounds. I couldn't decide. I took a sabbatical year, and by the time it was over, thousands of mouths called me and I ended up being a dental clinic assistant and oral hygienist for 12 years. My adventurous instinct wanted to see the world. I left the dental clinic to work as a dental materials salesperson and little by little I rose to the position of product manager in an important multinational company. In those 11 years I traveled, I met and learned things that perhaps I wouldn't have learned otherwise. From 2010 to 2020 I have had exhibitions on the Costa Brava and in the provinces of Barcelona and Girona
