Lorraine's work lives in the dialogue between wild expression and structured control. She builds chaotic, layered surfaces, then push them towards resolution — not perfection, but a kind of wild balance. Colour is her language: loud, sometimes reckless, always unapologetic. She wants her paintings to hit with instant impact, then draw viewers in to discover subtle detail. Her process is intuitive, emotionally honest, and resistant to polish. She works primarily in acrylics and mixed media, using whatever tools and techniques a painting demands to bring it to a close.
I am drawn to the works of Howard Hodgkins, David Hockney, Gerhardt Richter and Brian Ruttenberg - colourists all.
Lorraine's practice has been shaped by years of study with many artists and mentors. Most recently, she completed the Creative Visionary Program with Californian artist Nicholas Wilton — a pivotal experience that transformed her approach to colour, composition, and creative risk-taking. She continues to expand her practice through workshops and mentorships, always pushing herself to create at new levels of depth and authenticity.
Lorraine has shown her work in numerous exhibitions in Australia and has sold quite a lot of her art through those avenues as well as internationally through Saatchi Art and other online galleries.
