Born in Montreal during the first half of the twentieth century of British, Romanian and Latvian ancestry - have led a peripatetic life in U.K., Canada, France, Italy and Greece, presently domiciled and working in Toronto. Have always loved and been inspired by the Art of many different eras and places in the world. However, in spite of the many directions art may now take, to my mind 'there is nothing new under the sun'. I am not 'cutting edge', feminist or political and my work does not tell a story however the paintings and woodcuts would appear to nourish and enhance the lives of people who have collected them. Like Matisse, I am content that they may serve people as does a luxurious and comfortable armchair. Therefore, I plod on not that it's easy to carry out, but nourished by 'nostalgias', the beauty of the natural world and the pleasures that may found in daily life -a very difficult task in the 21st century.
Art studies in the old Montreal Museum School of Art and Design and Central School in London. After an early start culminating in a dead end of 'abstraction', left painting for Academia (B.A. & M.A. in Classics, McGill University.)Reinspired by living and working in Greece, returned to a secluded life painting and printmaking in Canada. Have taught children and adults and presently delight in teaching 'seniors'.

I've accepted an invitation to join 9 other artists for an exhibition slated for November 2012 at the City of Toronto's Todmorden Mills galleries. The theme of Water has been selectedin this the first of 4 shows to feature the 4 elements. Have already completed (?) 5 new works out of a projected 10 - very inspiring and exciting for this old painter who can't stop!
The April 2012 library exhibition was well attended and I was pretty happy with how it looked etc - made some decent sales. Was invited to exhibit at another City of Toronto library (Taylor Memorial)over Xmas 2011 into January 2012. It appears to have been successful re viewers and sales.
