Louise Duggan

Louise Duggan is a multidisciplinary artist based in West Sussex. Born in the UK and of mixed heritage, she grew up in Nigeria from the age of four, travelling extensively across Africa. These experiences, together with her early exploration of African art during her degree, continue to inform her visual language through symbolism, abstracted forms and figures.
Working with acrylics, mixed media and gold leaf, Louise builds layered surfaces through mark-making, interruption and accumulation. Her paintings begin with a narrative or emotional thread and often occupy a space of vulnerability. Rooted in deeply personal experiences without being intended to be read literally, her work explores memory, identity, connection and what we carry emotionally and psychologically.
Alongside her studio practice, Louise is the founder of Ophelia Art Consultancy, through which she has sourced and commissioned artwork for international luxury hospitality projects. She is also the founder of Chichester CAN, a UK non-profit supporting artists through exhibitions, events and creative opportunities.
