Louis Comeau Contemporary Realism is my business name. The workshops I give are named “to go through the looking glass”. They are advertise on my Facebook page .comeau.50 and I use a group page to support it. My complete work can be seen on my website . Here I share my erotic paintings and drawings, ” Any bodies” and my ”Dancers in spaces” portfolios under my second name: Joseph. My erotic and nudes portfolio I named "any bodies" because I am using as a base several images that I collected through the years plus my accumulated knowledge of artistic anatomy that I acquired working with living models. The result is not from one single model but a composite. My main medium is acrylic but I also have work done in graphite, mixed medium and watercolour.
Of course to say that I love women and the grace of the female figure should, I hope, be evident but there is more, I also am, as an artist, absolutely fascinated by anatomy and the challenges that it brings. In these paintings my goal is to bring these two passions together in a graceful and playful image. If you look carefully you will see how I pay attention to details and skin texture. It is time consuming, done with love and is worth the price.

Although mainly self-taught, I was for 15 years, in the mid 1980's until 2000 mentored by a friend and recognized teacher, David Whitzman, also from Atlantic Canada, former teacher and one of the founders of the painting departement at N.S.C.A.D Halifax N.S. Canada.

"Whitzman taught drawing and painting at the college for four years, and also studied with Lismer in Montreal, and Caven Atkins and André Bieler at Queen's University. In 1946 he studied for a year at the Art Students' League of New York with teachers including the legendary teacher and illustrator Frank Reilly".
