Lucinda Leveille is an Australian painter working primarily in oil, known for atmospheric landscapes that explore stillness, distance, and the psychological weight of weather. Her work is shaped by long observation rather than description, using restrained horizons, compressed space, and subtle tonal shifts to evoke moments of quiet tension and suspended calm.
Rather than depicting specific places, Leveille paints states of being — skies that hold, clouds that press downward, and land that appears patient and inward. Light is used sparingly, often emerging through darkness, allowing mood and balance to carry the emotional charge of each work.
Her practice is grounded in repetition and duration, returning to familiar motifs — sky, cloud, horizon — as a way of refining tone, structure, and atmosphere over time. The paintings invite slow viewing, revealing their depth gradually rather than through immediate impact.
Leveille’s work has been exhibited widely in Australia and collected internationally. She lives and works on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
