Luigi Monti

Biography

Luigi Monti is an Italian artist based in Ancona.

Immediately after his art studies, he devoted himself to abstract painting. In 1990, he held his first solo exhibition at the "Ca Bianca Club" in Milan.

After beginning his career in abstract art, he embarked on a figurative journey, developing a personal language that combines technical research and contemporary sensibility. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad, distinguishing himself for the versatility of his works. Alongside his painting, he has collaborated as a cartoonist for the cultural website ICREWPLAY and designed logos and music covers.

Since 2018, he has completely changed his style, bringing a vibrant renewal to Pop Art, blending it with psychedelia. This is how Pop Art Psy was born: altered perception in the pop imagery of animation.

STATEMENT POP ART PSY:
Pop Art Psy intervenes on the icons of global animated culture through a recurring micro-alteration: multicolored eyes and a psychedelic green bib.

The image remains perfectly recognizable. It is not distorted, it is not destroyed. It is simply shifted by a few perceptual millimeters. This minimal deviation introduces a short circuit: the icon, a symbol of innocence and serial repetition,

suddenly appears imbued with an altered

irony.

The green bib is not a sign of decay but a gesture of disturbing lightness. A controlled excess. A trace of a modified state that does not erase the image, but complicates it.

If historical Pop Art, from Andy Warhol onward, made repetition visible as the language of consumption, Pop Art Psy operates on the threshold between familiarity and deviation: it does not multiply the icon, it fractures it with an ironic detail that reveals its symbolic fragility.

The intervention is minimal.

The effect is destabilizing.

Irony is the critical device.
