Wayne Sumstine

I have worked professionally as an artist for 35 years. Prior to that, I traveled the world as a syndicated photographer and travel writer for the Florida Sunshine Syndicate. I worked as a copy editor for the Los Angeles Free Press, as a screenwriter for Inside Job Productions, as a correspondent for The Washington Post newspaper and Soldier of Fortune magazine - covering stories in the Thar Desert of the India/Pakistan border and along the Misquito Coast of Nicaragua during the Contra war. I worked as an assistant to Academy Award winning French film director, Agnes Varda on a series of her films. In 1995-96, worked as a segment producer and television reporter for the nationally syndicated You Need to Know show at WCFC-TV, Chicago.

Self-educated painter. Graduated from University of Arizona. Attended UA School of Law. Attended Regents University - graduate program in film production.

Paintings have been represented in more than two dozen galleries in the US, including Paula Miller Gallery in Phoenix, Powell Street Gallery in San Francisco, Brock Gallery in Sarasota, Chalk Farm Gallery in Santa Fe, Monte Wade Gallery in San Antonio, Jane Hamilton Gallery in Tucson. Sculpture of The Junk Mail Tree, a 16 ft. high tree constructed entirely of junk mail that I received in my mailbox was exhibited at The Mall of America in Minneapolis, MN.
