Luz Angela Cruz is a Colombian architect and visual artist based in Bogotá. Her work reflects a deep exploration of form, structure, and movement, influenced by her architectural background. Working primarily with Yupo paper, she develops intricate compositions through her distinctive Cut and Form technique, creating delicate three-dimensional pieces where precision, rhythm, and light interact. From her studio in Bogotá, she produces works that evoke elegance, complexity, and a refined sense of spatial harmony.
Luz Angela Cruz studied Architecture at Universidad Piloto de Colombia, motivated by a strong interest in design, aesthetics, construction, and the relationship between interior and exterior spaces. Her architectural background has deeply influenced her artistic vision, particularly in her exploration of structure, form, and spatial composition.
In 2008, she expanded her artistic training by studying with the recognized Colombian artist D. Peña, who guided her in the exploration of diverse techniques and materials. During this period, she developed works primarily in oil on canvas while progressively experimenting with mixed media.
Her practice evolved through the integration of varied materials and processes, including oil combined with oxidized metals, alcohol inks on Yupo paper, and thermo-profiling techniques, allowing her to develop a distinctive visual language that merges precision, material exploration, and dimensionality.
