Lynn Shanks

My work is an observation of ordinary beauty, in both nature and humanity. I use mainly acrylic or watercolor paints to capture and share my unique perspective on a common subject. Although I would be categorized as a realist, I don’t attempt to precisely replicate; I use color and movement to offer my own interpretation of a place, person, or thing. The Adirondack region I call home is a source of endless inspiration, as are the people in my life. Landscapes and living creatures are a staple in my work, along with the occasional narrative piece/series. I love that art in every form celebrates individuality while also encouraging a collective experience. I hope my paintings are a reminder to viewers that our natural environment and our liberties should not be taken for granted…both are vulnerable and must be protected.
