Sarah-Maeli Tedo

Sarah-Maeli Tedo, known artistically as Maeli, is a French artist of camerounian origin whose practice explores identity, emotion, and transformation through contemporary figurative painting. She was recently one of the winners of the 2026 Woman's Essence international Award for women artists in Milan.

Having growing up in France and several african countries, her work reflects rich intercultural perspective shaped by diverse environments and experiences.

She obtained a Masters Degree in Contemporary Art and New Media in Paris in 2016, and after exploring various contemporary artistic mediums (performance, video, comics, etc.), she has recently focused her creative research on painting.
Working primarily with watercolor, Maeli repisitions the medium as a contemporary expressive tool. Her aesthetic is luminous, sensitive, and profoundly human. In her work, often centered around or based on portraiture, she seeks to reveal the presence, complexity, vulnerability, and strength of her subjects through a soft palette, delicate lighting, and meticulous attention to expression.
