Maia Giorgadze

My artistic practice explores emotional expression, imagination, symbolism, and the relationship between visual storytelling and human perception. Working across abstract and figurative painting, watercolor, drawing, textile art, sculpture, and illustration, I use diverse materials to translate inner experiences into colour, form, and texture.

Experimentation is central to my creative process. I combine traditional techniques—including embroidery, sewing, crochet, needle felting, beadwork, and papier-mâché—with contemporary and unconventional approaches. Layering threads, fabric, paper, paint, and found materials allows me to create tactile surfaces and dimensional compositions. Through this dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary visual language, I continue to develop a distinctive and evolving artistic identity.

My work moves freely between abstraction, symbolism, and visual storytelling. Although the medium may change, each piece is connected by an interest in transformation, memory, imagination, and the emotional meanings carried by colours, textures, and recurring forms.

My artistic journey has evolved over time, and my signature reflects this progression. Earlier works are signed with the initials “M.G....

Alongside my artistic practice, I hold a PhD in Linguistics and have an academic background in English Philology. Language, psychology, and interpretation deeply influence the way I approach visual art, particularly my interest in symbolism, perception, and visual storytelling. My work is not confined to a single style; instead, I explore different forms of creativity through an intuitive and experimental process.

I live and work in Tbilisi, Georgia.

My work has been presented at art fairs and exhibitions in Georgia, internationally, and through online platforms. I continue to participate actively in exhibition projects that connect my practice with diverse audiences and creative communities.
