I would describe my artistic vision as conceptual figuralism. The creative process begins with a concept and theme selection. Recently, this topic was a Christian culture. For some stories I’m looking for models around me. For me, working with models is very important. I like to work with people, and my sculptural approach is people-oriented too. During modeling figure, I get to know their personality and stories, which is how it is built to it, enriching the work. The technical basis of my sculptural work is traditional wood carving, mixed with individual, original, modern gesture language. I leave some surfaces roughly with chainsaw, while the most important expression-enhancing parts are finely worked out. Additional surface experimentation is burn the sculpture and treated with hypo, blue vitriol or lineseed oil. By this method, no extra layer is placed on the tree, but by coloring it through chemical processes. Thereby the nature of the tree remains and the sculpture becomes picturesque.
My latest project is creating a sculpture series with the theme of women in the bible. These will be life-size wood sculptures . First of all, I will deal with Old Testament female figures, like Lot’s wife, Susana, Betsabé and Rebeka. Old Te...
