Marcello Ruggiero develops a research-based artistic practice exploring the relationships between sound, image, perception and experience.
Painting constitutes one of the central pillars of this practice. Alongside an independent career developed over many years, it has evolved as an autonomous body of work while also forming a structural component of several of his research-based projects.
Working across abstraction and mixed media, his paintings explore layered surfaces, atmospheric structures and material tension through reduced compositions and dense visual fields. Color, rhythm and spatial relationships are investigated as interconnected visual systems, balancing silence, instability and spatial presence while remaining open to multiple interpretations.
