Marco Sabatino Picone

Marco Sabatino Picone is an Italian contemporary artist currently based in the United States. A former Italian Air Force officer and pilot, his artistic practice transforms personal experiences into visual narratives centered on passage, change, and human transformation.
His work is deeply rooted in a personal transition that redefined his own identity. After a 22 years military career and a life built in Italy, he made the decision to leave behind his profession, homeland, and the familiarity of family and certainties to follow love and begin a new life in the United States with his American wife. That experience became more than a geographical move; it became a passage between different versions of himself.
For Marco Sabatino Picone, growth rarely comes from permanence. It emerges from movement, uncertainty, and the courage to step beyond what is known. His work explores the emotional space between departure and arrival: the moment where identity evolves and where change becomes transformation.

His work has received early recognition: selected for the ICONS: Art for the Ages exhibition in San Diego, and among the artists advancing through the selection rounds of the People's Artist competition promoted by Johnny Depp.

"ECHOS OF ITALY"
A visual tribute to Italy’s landscapes, culture, symbols, and collective memory, Echos of Italy brings together places belonging to the artist’s own journey, from the landscapes of Puglia to the peaks of the Dolomites. These works do not aim to reproduce places as they existed at a specific moment in time, but instead reflect how memory preserves them: altered by emotion, softened by distance, and transformed by personal experience.

Picone paints remembered landscapes rather than physical ones. Colors are chosen not to recreate reality but to recreate emotional memory — the way places continue to live within us long after we leave them.

Through pouring techniques, texture paste, and dimensional surfaces, the artist moves beyond traditional canvas boundaries. Texture becomes not only a material expression but also a sensory invitation, allowing viewers to experience the work beyond a purely visual level.
