Marcus Bastel

I am a photographer and writer originally from Germany I have been living and working in London 1997. I have a Fine Art background and studied at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam and Sheffield Hallam University.

I like to convey a feel of narrative, place and motion through my work. Today even the unfamiliar has become something we have experienced second hand and take or mistake for reality right across the globe.

I have travelled extensively across the US and love going down the little middle-of-nowhere roads, meeting the people along it. It is people and their stories, that inspire my imagination. They inspire my stories and when I seek to frame an image I want that image to become a stepping stone into a story. Sometimes such story is further explained, at other times it is one the viewer will make up in order to place, catalogue and make sense of an image.
