Margaret Merry

Born 1944, Chelmsford, England.I grew up in Falmouth but lived and worked as an artist in Truro from 1970 until I moved to Spain in 2001.I have been painting since I was 2 years old but I also have a love of nature, my animals, classical music and dance. In 2002 I moved to Spain and now live in the Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata in Almeria. The scenery around my home provides endless, beautiful subjects for landscape painting and I get inspiration from the dramatic landscapes of Andalucia and the old cities, towns and villages. I am also interested in portraiture and figure studies and my preferred medium for these is soft pastel.

After leaving Falmouth High School, I spent a year at Falmouth School of Art. Then followed three years at Hornsey College of Art in London where I obtained a Diploma in Art and Design. I then spent a post-graduate year at the West of England College of Art in Bristol where I gained an Art Teachers Diploma and a Certificate in Education of the University of Bristol. I lived and worked in Truro for over 30 years and became one of Cornwalls most popular artists. My paintings have been exhibited in New York, Tokyo, Paris and London and have been bought by collectors from all over the world. I used to exhibit regularly at the National Trust Gallery, Trelissick, Truro, Cornwall.,
