Maria Isabel Rodriguez

Maria Isabel Rodriguez’s work is a profound exploration of self-acceptance, resilience, and adaptation. Based in Montreal, Canada, Rodriguez initially gained recognition in the realms of fashion illustration and textile design. However, she ultimately sought a deeper sense of personal freedom and artistic purpose.

Her art passionately reflects an intuitive engagement with vibrant colors and rhythmic forms, often manifesting through conceptual floral representations and landscapes. Rodriguez's style elegantly navigates the space between abstraction and figuration, creating an illusion of unfolding processes. With expressive strokes and meticulously considered shapes, she blurs the boundaries between the real and the imagined.

In a contemporary homage to the 17th-century Vanitas still-life, Rodriguez seeks to evoke emotions while probing existential themes of life and death, beauty and decay, all integral to the cycle of existence.

Mostly self-taught, she has immersed herself in a dedicated fine arts studio practice, focusing on independent painting.
