I paint inspired by nature because I deeply admire its beauty. My work pays tribute to biodiversity, wild habitats, and our place within the extraordinary web of life. I see nobility in an animal's gaze, strength in their presence, and magic in the flight of a bird or the mist rising from a damp forest.
Grounded in classical fine arts rigor, my contemporary practice bridges expressive figurative portraiture with gestural, organic abstraction.
Working in oil and acrylic on canvas, I layer fluid glazes, energetic brushwork, and atmospheric drips to capture the living essence rather than a static portrait of each species and landscape.
My paintings are designed to bring scale, movement, and a profound sense of wilderness into fine art collections and contemporary interior spaces. Through every piece, I invite collectors to reconnect with the quiet beauty and vital urgency of preserving our natural world.
Born in Talca, Chile, María José Espinoza grew up immersed in a vibrant family tradition of self-taught painters, an environment that nurtured her early artistic vocation and led her to initial training at the local Casa del Arte.
She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in Painting from the University of Concepción (2004), where she was honored with the prestigious 2005 University Award for academic and artistic excellence. Complementing her formal fine arts rigor, she holds a Diploma in Art Therapy from Universidad Católica de Temuco (2016), an interdisciplinary background that enriches the emotional resonance and human connection within her contemporary practice.
