Mariana Rentería Garnica (b. 1987) is a visual artist mainly working with drawing and painting, born and based in Morelia Michoacán.

Her practice is centered on nature and transformation, and from the use of small lines, develops the representation of different textures and natural elements such as plants, bones, fossils, animals and marine forms that merge with each other creating compositions

Mariana began her practice under the school of art San Nicolas de Hidalgo University, UMSNH, Morelia Michoacán, México.

Her work has been exhibited in several solo and group shows in Mexico, Thailand and Russia. She was awarded in 2010 with Honorable Mention, for the work “Libertad de expression”, in the second contest "Caminos de la Libertad", Grupo Salinas y Converse, CDMX, México. She participates in 2016 in the festival Book-art sample. "De la estampa al arte objeto”, Mexico and Russia in "National University of Kuban, KubSU, Krasnodar, Russia. She got Honorable mention with the work "Teratología Marina" in the 19th State Watercolor Contest, Morelia Michoacán, México in 2017. Rentería has been sectioned in “Parametro” (Biennial Lumen), Museum of the Mexico City, CDMX in 2018, in that same year she presented her solo exhibition "Naturaleza teratológica", Contemporany Art Museum "MACAZ" Alfredo Zalce, Morelía Michoacán, México.
She has been awarded with the grant by PECDAM (Programa de Estímulo a la Creación y Desarrollo Artístico. México) in 2019. In parallel to her participation in the 5th Bangkok International Print and Drawing Exhibition, she had some exhibitions supported by the Embassy of México in Thailand.
