Artist statement

While I paint, I explore my own nature. I work primarily in oil. I use various painting conventions to suit the subject. Boring realism is attacked by a symbol and expressive, large, spots of color. I enjoy working with a narrow color range. A good painting is when abstract elements become interpretive clues and stimulate the mind to seek new stories about the object. The painting subject is not only the basis for creating a visual story, but also a pretext for formal play. I offer the viewer evocative visions, drawing their attention to seemingly insignificant fragments of everyday life, overlooked in the daily grind. Reading them as symbols may turn into philosophical journey. The world I create in my paintings is idealized, unreal, yet derived from reality. Human beings are like statues, gazing into an infinite, mysterious space, which seems to be the source of their melancholic peace.
