Maria Vallier

I am a visual artist working across sculpture and painting. I explore the body and nature through organic forms, transforming recognizable figures with curves, contraction and expansion. My work moves between figuration and abstraction.

In sculpture, I work with resin, cement, plaster and carved stone, allowing the material to retain traces of the process. In painting, gesture, color, negative space and overlapping organic forms develop a related language.

I am drawn to contrasts: fragility and volume, delicacy and weight, control and spontaneity. As proportions shift and forms change, the body becomes a starting point for exploring vulnerability, movement and transformation. The material and the space around it remain active parts of each work.
