Her work is rooted in her environment, playing with incongruous combinations of familiar objects, changes in scale, and shifts in perspective. A break from everyday life for a trip to Florida. In the whirlwind of this faraway journey, visual artist Marie Charrel Ménard worked on resurgence. The resurgence of her attachment to her native land, to her beloved creeks, to the salty smell of her morning walks, to the shimmering colors of a Mediterranean exalted by light.
The resurgence also of her fascination with Viennese Graphic Art, the Vienna Secession, and the artists of that period. Like Klimt, Kolo Moser, but also Kupka and Mucha, this Marseille artist plays with organic forms, stylizes the curves of a sea urchin she has tasted or a coral photographed long ago in Réunion, punctuates her canvases with an abundance of motifs, and sets the rhythm of her structure with a profusion of colors.

Marie Charrel Menard is a visual artist living in Marseille. She holds a Master's degree in visual arts and a Bachelor's degree in graphic arts. She has been teaching graphic design, visual expression, and artistic culture for over 23 years, specializing in color, at the École de Condé in Marseille, France. Over 20 years ago, she created the Atelier Couleur, a weekly visual arts workshop for children. Marie has supervised educational workshop projects for various elementary schools. She also regularly organizes events for her students. Whether in teaching or in her own visual art creation, Marie is a versatile artist.
In painting, her approach involves playing with transparency, superimposition, variation, and depth, drawing on color, form, and texture. She combines these textural effects with more graphic elements, textile prints, and silhouettes of animals, flowers, and even angels. In her latest creations, Marie focuses particularly on the underwater world. The “Immersion” series is the result of a subtle interplay and harmony between materials, colors, and marine forms.
