Mariia Maliugina

I am a San Francisco–based artist working at the intersection of storytelling, memory, and dreamlike imagery. My practice blends figurative painting with symbolic elements, creating emotional, slightly surreal worlds that feel both intimate and universal. I often explore themes of identity, femininity, nature, and inner transformation through layered compositions and vivid color.

My work reflects on memory, imagination, and the emotional textures of everyday life through a poetic visual language. I am drawn to the spaces where reality and dream overlap, and to the ways stories can be told through color, texture, and symbolic imagery.

Working primarily in painting, I build layered compositions that invite viewers into intimate, almost cinematic scenes. Alongside my studio practice, I also create site-specific mural works, extending my artistic vision beyond the canvas and into architectural space.

My practice is guided by intuition, storytelling, and a deep connection to nature, human relationships, and inner landscapes. Through my work, I aim to create moments of reflection, wonder, and emotional resonance that linger long after they are seen.
