Marija Constantinou

Born in Serbia and now living in Cyprus, I discovered my passion for art early in life and trained under several renowned Serbian artists in classic painting, drawing, and stained glass. In 2008, I made the bold decision to leave my career as a qualified nurse to fully pursue my art — a transformative choice that allowed me to follow my deepest creative instincts.

My compositions are vibrant, expressive, and dynamic explorations of color, form, and texture. Through an intuitive and spontaneous process, I let instinct and emotion guide my brush, allowing the artwork to evolve organically rather than through rigid planning. Music often accompanies my creative sessions, influencing the rhythm and flow of my gestures — every mark becomes part of a visual symphony.

The paintings presented here embody the essence of that energy. Bold reds, luminous yellows, and deep blacks collide and dance in visceral harmony, while cool blues and purples bring moments of calm and reflection. Layers of texture, movement, and pattern create depth and rhythm — much like the rise and fall of a melody. These contrasts mirror the dualities of life: chaos and order, light and shadow, energy and stillness.
