Marina Kukonos

Ceramic artist and painter from Italy. I have been engaged in painting since 2010 and ceramics since 2015.
My artistic practice focuses on exploring the dialogue between humans and nature. I believe that nature is the wisest artist and storyteller. My mission is to be a sensitive conduit for its voice. I explore the significance of natural symbols and the connections between humans and their totemic animals.
My work is an attempt to understand the wisdom of the Universe and retell it through the language of art, intertwining reality with fantasy to remind us: magic is here, and it is close. Through my art, I express my perception of nature. For me, this is a sacred process, a process of connecting with the creator, where the very concept of time ceases to exist.
I work in two primary media: ceramics and painting, considering them complementary modes of expression.
In ceramics, I use both stoneware and porcelain. This material perfectly conveys the organic nature of natural forms and textures. In painting, I turn to oil and acrylic.
A key element of my creative process is a state of deep concentration, which allows the work to acquire its own, contemplative aura.
