Marion Wiering

I live in Groningen a town in the north of The Netherlands. I get my inspiration from the living nature, people and the world around me. I love especially the variety and complexity of everyting and everyone who lives in the here (where ever that might be) and the now. I work with oilpaint on canvas because oil gives the best colors. Also oil has the capacity to hold the emotions and the atmospere into the paint. So that if you look at the painting for a longer time it really comes to life. I like to paint directly 'en plein air'. For me color is the most important. Before form there is color.

My art education started with the Art Academy Minerva in Groningen (1993-1996). After the Minerva I studied with the famous contemporary painter Mathijs Rölling. From here on I continued with oilpainting. Together with a group of people we have a club where we engage in figure drawing once a week for the last 18 years. I also have two Master's degrees in Religious Studies (2010) and Spiritual Care (2013).
