I paint with oil paint and very realistic. I want to capture, soften and monumentalize reality as it presents itself to me. I use my own photos for my paintings. These are not special photos, but everyday snapshots.
In my paintings the image should be clear and direct, but also soft. Soft in the transitions. The subject must have a strong presence on the canvas. In order to achieve this, I paint the subject over and over.
I am concerned with everyday reality, as I see it. Clear, monumental and softened. This applies to all subjects I deal with. I strive for the image to be powerful, monumental and soft and hope to give it a poetic quality through this. Actually, this applies to all subjects from which I get my inspiration.
For example, I paint people on the back. I want to use this to create a streetscape, a time image.
-I am also working on a series of portraits of people over 90, in which I try to show both their vulnerability and their strength with soft transitions.
-But a plant on the windowsill can also inspire me.
