“Liminal Maritime Realism”
I create quiet, cinematic photographs of coasts, tall ships, and fog-softened landscapes—realist scenes rendered with a painter’s restraint, where light, water, and weather turn ordinary harbors and hills into liminal spaces of memory and solitude.

My artworks evoke calm and contemplation with a restrained palette and meticulous attention to atmosphere. Each piece invites lingering, encouraging viewers to notice subtle gradations of mist, the tactile grain of wood, or the gentle rhythm of waves. I believe true beauty often emerges in the understated—the spaces between presence and absence, clarity and obscurity.
My creative process blends intuition and deliberation, balancing abstraction with realism. Whether working in monochrome or color, I strive to craft images that are timeless and deeply personal, yet universally resonant. Ultimately, my goal is to provide a place for reflection—a sanctuary where viewers can discover their own stories within the landscape.

Following graduate studies in journalism and photography at Syracuse University and storytelling at the University of Southern California, Bailey succeeded both before and behind the camera. His talent for intimate, up-close storytelling led ABC Sports to recruit him for on-air Olympics commentary.
He created and directed advertising campaigns for VISA, American Airlines, Chevrolet, National Geographic, Time-LIFE, and Major League Baseball, always with a developing artist’s aesthetic.
Next, Bailey’s coverage of yachtsman Dennis Conner’s triumphant four-year Stars & Stripes ‘87 America’s Cup campaign. Massive global television viewership ensued, including the team’s White House presentation of the Cup to President Ronald Reagan. He also directed coverage of the Blue Riband transatlantic record crossing attempts by Sir Richard Branson and Tom Gentry.
At Sony Pictures Entertainment and Columbia TriStar Home Video, he created marketing for Men in Black, Legends of the Fall, A Few Good Men, Das Boot, Jerry Maguire and other major motion pictures.
In 2018, he covered the Tall Ships Races on the North Sea for Getty Images and the barque Star of India's 155th anniversary sail off San Diego.
