Marta De Reyna

I am a Spanish contemporary artist exploring the point where chance becomes form.

I work across painting, digital media and hand-made polymer clay mosaics, creating surfaces whose colours and patterns are partly unpredictable. Rather than imposing an image from the beginning, I look for forms already suggested within them and bring those forms forward through paint, line and selective intervention.

My current body of work, BECOMING, asks when something begins to exist: when it appears, when we recognise it, or when we make it visible.

The work sits between abstraction and figuration, with each image emerging from something that was already there, but had to be discovered.

I hold a B.A. in Art History from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and trained in Gemology at the Instituto Gemológico Español. I later completed the Applied Jewelry Arts program at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Carlsbad, California.
