Martin Chadwick

Martin Chadwick is a self-described dreamer and his art is a way of reclaiming the overlooked. His surrealist paintings and sculptures serve as a bridge between his background in architectural model-making and the fluid, unpredictable textures of nature.

His aesthetic is defined by "the beauty of aging and decay"—the rich patina of rusted metal, the intricate patterns of oxidation, and the silent stories told by abandoned buildings. By integrating these elements with natural motifs, he challenges the viewer to find elegance in what is typically dismissed as "ugly." This global perspective was forged through an upbringing in a centuries-old English pub, combined with living internationally in the high-paced urban centers of the world, including Hong Kong, London, and Chicago. Today, from his studio in Chicago, Chadwick translates these lived experiences into a visual language where history, structure, and dreams coexist.
