Maryana Luchi

I am a Ukrainian multidisciplinary artist based in Prague, specializing in a unique, self-developed technique of abstract bead embroidery and gold-leaf wood reliefs.

My practice is defined by a commitment to 'slow art' and the mastery of materials. Since 2016, I have redefined beadwork, moving it from the realm of craft into contemporary abstract fine art. I treat beads as a painter treats pigment, creating 'painted' canvases where light and texture replace traditional brushstrokes to explore the nuances of memory and human emotion.

In tandem with my textile work, I create woodcut reliefs on wood fiber boards. By carving into the medium and finishing the surface with gold leaf, I achieve a powerful, almost gothic resonance that speaks to the sacredness of personal experience.

With over 20 years of experience and exhibitions in Ukraine, Austria (AG18 Gallery), Australia, and the Czech Republic, my work is a dialogue between meticulous craftsmanship and deep emotional narrative. My pieces are held in private collections across the USA, Europe, and Australia, created for those who seek art that is both physically striking and emotionally resonant.
