Mary Hubley is an award-winning American oil painter based in St. Augustine, Florida, known for her still life and landscape paintings. Her current focus is on quiet, atmospheric still life for galleries and collectors, while her broader body of work includes coastal subjects, landscapes, boats, and figures.
Hubley is drawn to ordinary objects and places that carry a sense of history and memory. Her still lifes often feature antique pottery, linens, shells, flowers, fruit, and other objects shaped by time and use. She is particularly interested in the way light reveals texture, creates atmosphere, and transforms familiar things into something more evocative.
Her paintings combine elements of classical realism with a contemporary atmospheric approach. Soft edges, restrained color, carefully considered values, and areas of suggestion allow the paintings to move beyond straightforward description toward a sense of stillness and memory.
