Matthieu Degrave

Matthieu Degrave-Beaussart is a French photographer who has lived in several countries over the past twenty years and is now based in Luxembourg.

He is the author of Still, a seven-part photographic series pairing architecture, portraiture, and street photography with original poetry, shot across the many countries his travels have taken him through. Each volume explores a single question: what remains still when everything else keeps moving?

A self-taught photographer with a documentarian's patience, Degrave-Beaussart is drawn to the moment where motion resolves into stillness — a stairwell in Bruges, a funicular somewhere in Europe, a window opening onto the Brittany coast. Fifteen years of moving between countries have sharpened an eye for the detail a local might walk past without noticing. His work has appeared across the Still book series (Still Lines, Still Faces, Still Lives, Still Moves), with three further volumes in production. This is his debut collection of limited edition fine art prints.

Degrave-Beaussart holds a Master Degree in Business Administration.
Photography began as the opposite of that world — a way to slow down, look closely, and let a single frame hold still what a career spent managing people and logistics never could.
