Max Damore

I was born in 1972 in Saginaw, Michigan. As a child, I would draw on anything. In school my "notes" consisted of elaborate doodles rather than anything pertaining to the discussion. In college I found my outlet with a few dreaded studio art classes. Having to create was a blessing in disguise. Several painting, sculpture and ceramic classes gave me the ultimate freedom I was searching for. I finally had something that was purely mine and I never looked back.

My work is a reflection of an ongoing quest for harmony, self discovery. When I create a painting, I enter my own world of visual language, transforming visions into rhythmic constructions of line, shape form and space. Similar to nature, my compositions rely on all elements working together. My influences derive from everything I experience. I try to capture the essence of all things. A simple shape, sound, a feeling or moment can fuel my process.

I have had the opportunity to exhibit my work in galleries, cultural centers, and universities throughout the country. These solo and group shows include appearances at the All Area Arts Exhibit in Saginaw, Summerworks and Winterworks in Steamboat Springs, Colorado as well as the featured artist at the Steamboat Mountain Film Festival from 2003 through 2006. My work has been represented at TEI Modern, Studio Gallery 27 and Schiesser Gallery in Steamboat Springs and most recently featured on RSN channel 18s Steamboat Today program. ,
