May Lipkind

May Lipkind resides in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Her art practice serves as an extension of her journaling habit, a visual diary through which she processes and records her experiences. Intertwining her personal stories with a profound interest in cognitive psychology, she delves into the intricacies of memories and perception. Poetry and music often serve as catalysts, triggering and intensifying past experiences and memories, allowing them to resurface and inform her creative process.

Her technique is as varied as her themes, employing a versatile approach that includes the soak-stain technique to create fluid color fields and dynamic, gestural brushstrokes to add energy and complexity.

Inspired by the pioneering abstractionists Helen Frankenthaler, Joan Mitchell, and Cy Twombly, Lipkind creates spaces for quiet reflection and contemplation.
