My work is a continued exploration of the female figure in context. At the core of my work is an ongoing interest in the relationship between theatre and everyday life: the feeling of constantly being on stage.
I am especially fascinated by fashion’s connection to identity definition, categorization, and aspirations of popular culture and avant-garde forms alike. Working with textiles alongside paintings, I maintain a strong interest in blurring the boundaries between fine art and design. Employing the silkscreen, fabric dyes, denim, spandex, glitter, and found garments into my paintings, I am interested in the potential for various “non-traditional” materials to embed meaning into images.
