I explore the interplay of color and composition. In my abstract painting, I layer gouache, ink and acrylic transparently on top of one another and rework them in detail. Dense, strong areas of color stand against delicately fading edges. The forms stand out from the light ground and are at the same time permeated by it. In this way, the white space of the canvas becomes an equal part of the pictorial composition. I see each painting as a space of resonance, in which something of the viewer's own inner world can echo.

Where the paintings are built on surface and layering, the drawings arise from line, form and accents of color. A dense, hatched body stands in the open paper, and a few highly pigmented accents glow against the gray. The white space is a compositional device: it determines where the form ends and the line continues. The colored frame is part of the drawing: it carries the colors of the sheet further and extends the composition beyond the paper.
