Michele Rushworth

Although I’m probably better known for the oil portraits that I’ve painted for various officials and families across the United States, I’m also passionate about landscape painting, especially paintings with water.

I paint landscapes and seascapes to capture the soaring, joyful feelings I have when I’m outdoors, to preserve the memories of those feelings for myself and have them at home with me, whenever I look at the paintings. More importantly, I paint because I want to share that joy that I experience with others.

I hope to capture the feelings I had when walking along a warm and quiet beach, soaking in the intense clear brightness of the sun on the water, feeling the amazing, rich colors of a sunrise or getting a glimpse into the world of our gorgeous birds as they take wing near our shores.

I want to relive and share what it was like to feel the spray and power of a glorious waterfall and notice the delicate reflections sparkling on the rocks, and how it lifted my spirits to be there and experience it. I try to convey the deep peace I feel when I paddle across a calm lake or see the delicacy of light through flower petals in the early evening .… this is what I’d like to share through my paintings.
