Miles Astray

Inspired by slow travel, Miles Astray blends writing and photography, art and activism. Framed by candor, but not caged in by any one genre, his work aims beyond catchy, flat, one-dimensional black or white narratives and notions of misery, happiness, modernity, and exoticism to depict authentic glimpses of here, there, and elsewhere. The result is both homage and appeal.

As a traveling photographer rather than a travel photographer per se, Miles' eclectic body of work encompasses bold documentary, keen cultural observations, subtle and iconic discoveries of the natural and urban world, as well as story-telling street photography and the moments next door.

Considering reality the truest aesthetic, Miles’ ambition is to capture the world as is. No tricks, no fiction, no hyper-stylized post-production cosmetics—nothing staged, nothing fake, nothing pretentious. His work has been recognized through hundreds of awards, exhibitions, and media features worldwide.
