Mirjam Dorsch is a conceptual artist and sculptor based in Berlin. Her work is characterized by a profound inquiry into materiality and the shifting boundaries of the artistic process. Dorsch explores the intersections of sculpture and installation, often using her practice to deconstruct the roles and elements of the art world itself. Through a playful yet rigorous rearrangement of material properties, she opens up new perspectives on how objects are perceived and valued.
A graduate of the renowned Braunschweig University of Art (HBK), Dorsch studied under Professor Raimund Kummer, ultimately receiving her diploma with honors and being named a "Meisterschüler" (Master Student). Her academic excellence was further recognized through prestigious grants, including the Stiftung Kunstfonds (Neustart Kultur) and the Galata working scholarship in Istanbul.
Her current series, which began during the global pandemic, shifts the focus toward human perception. By isolating the "eye" as a central motif and integrating industrial elements—such as transformed transport protectors—Dorsch bridges the gap between raw materiality and psychological depth. Her work has been shown extensively in solo and group exhibitions across Germany, including the 48 Stunden Neukölln, Haus der Statistik, and LAGE EGAL in Berlin.
