Aleksandra Mitkalova

My practice combines illustration and contemporary art, exploring themes of memory, migration, identity, and everyday life. I currently live and work in Lisbon, Portugal. I pay particular attention to colour and composition, using them to shape the atmosphere and emotional quality of my works. Through my practice, I strive to create an “unusual yet calming interaction” between the depicted object and the viewer.

I am a visual artist and illustrator based in Lisbon, Portugal. Originally from Tyumen, Russia, I studied Fine Arts, completed the Authorial Book Program at HSE in 2019, and graduated with an MA in Design and Visual Culture from IADE in 2025.
