Ever since childhood I’ve been fascinated by the sea, loved to explore new places, have adventures and create artwork—from my own imagination as well as from life. I am also a professional dancer and love the ocean for its freedom of movement, infinite moods and boundless expressions- the way it dances with sunlight and wind! When I'm by the ocean I feel such a deep sense of limitless freedom. Its beauty is expressed in a myriad of ways from dark and foreboding, to light, sparkling, joyful and free, to quiet peaceful waves in the hushed hues of dusk. The ocean is powerful, mysterious, ever-changing, and cleansing to both heart and soul to be near. Under the water is a whole other world that beckons to be explored. What light, water, waves, atmosphere, and wind can do together is nothing short of visual magic! As a painter I have all of this to play with, as well as the sea’s stunning transluscence and ability to reflect every beloved color in my artist’s heart. I love to move! To me, the ocean is the ultimate dancer of the elemental world.
I hope that when someone buys a painting from me and hangs it on their wall, that they too will be filled with the same sense of wonder, awe, reverence and love that I feel for the sea.

Marguerite Lloyd has a B.F.A. from the University of Arizona and studied art for many years with the late Lillias Apland, a master in her own right, who studied with R. Brownell McGrew, a famous painter of American Indians and their way of life. “Lillias encouraged me to find my own path as a painter and to paint not only what I see, but also what I feel. It is my dream to share the peace and inspiration that I feel when I am painting, and to leave a lasting impression, however great or small, that renews the viewer’s spirit and belief in the magic and beauty of life.”
Painters who have influenced Marguerite’s work are J.W. Waterhouse, Frederick Lord Leighton, Alan Kingwell, E. John Robinson and Frank Frazetta.
