Max Nissenholtz

I was born in St. Louis Missouri, earned a bachelor of arts degree at the University of Missouri. I thought I would become a professor of art so I then earned a Master's degree in Art Education while teaching in a public high school. That did not suit my ambitions so I moved to New York City and enrolled in Pratt Institute of Art where I earned A Master's degree in Fine Arts, majoring in painting. Pursuing a career as a painter I participated in several exhibitions around the city. Sales were few, the financial pressure of the city and a wife forced me to return to painting scenery which I had done previously at the Saint Louis Municipal Opera. As a member of the United Scenic Artist Union in NYC, I worked on many Broadway, NYC Ballet, and Metropolitan Opera productions. Then shifting into film and TV production allowed me to use my drawing and painting skills and earn an adequate living. Now retired, I live in Morelia Mexico with my wife of 37 years and return to making art. Art has been a constant thread running through every phase of my life. I am grateful for this gift and the talent I have nurtured.
